Seth Godin republished one of his own forgotten articles, and it contains a great zen-like pearl of wisdom:-

Smart organizations ignore the urgent. Smart organizations understand that important issues are the ones to deal with. If you focus on the important stuff, the urgent will take care of itself.


I can't read it without imagining it as a lesson being taught to trainee samurai... it seems like one of those fundamental truths that everyone kind of knows, but can't quite live up to. Seth explains it in more depth, with some great examples:-
