My pick of the Micro ISV news and blog posts this week.
News and Announcements
- Ben released his Authorize .NET component for PHP.
- Ether launched. It's very interesting, it helps you sell time, services, emails, or other content.
- Nick Hebb announced a public beta of his BreezeTree Excel flowchart add-in.
- Ade launched FormSpring an online form building system, and asked for feedback.
- Dave launched Cebase (a service for building and hosting web database applications) he wants feedback too.
- Kyle is building an email application for the Treo 650. JoS feedback link.
- Aaron launched his holiday rentals search engine, juststepsaway.
- Sigurd Rinde has spent 5 years on Thingamy. So far it's all sounding a bit vague and ambitious, but with Hugh on marketing, it probably has a chance. A demo should be available anytime now.
- Rajesh Setty's free ebook: When you can't earn an MBA. Also from Rajesh, two articles on Personal branding for technology professionals.
- Seth Godin on Can't vs Won't, and the quick follow up on how sometimes I'll try is enough.
- J has some SEO tips in Google and the H1 tag.
- Ryan Smyth on MyMicroISV: Aesthetics for Micro ISVs... Ian Landsman agrees: It sucks because it's ugly.
- Still on MyMicroISV, Dharmesh has some advice on finding a partner.
- Fished out of a long JoS thread: an interesting ASP member survey on profits and more.
- Dennis Forbes on The Folly of Targeting the Geek market. My codesnipers' post last week touched on the similar ground: The Right Idea.
- Wil Schroter: Overnight Success takes a long time.
- From 37signals: Is getting real dangerous?
- Late Addition: Seth Godin's speech to Google.
- Kids Programming Language looks like a fun project. There's an interview with the creators on Channel 9.
- If Microsoft designed the iPod packaging.
