Evil Phil Steinmeyer (or DiceWars)

Following a tip on Phil Steinmeyer's blog, I decided to try playing DiceWars. I was warned not to do it unless I had a few hours to waste, but I figured I could beat the odds.

I was wrong, Phil was right, my afternoon was gone...
I'm posting it here to spread the pain, and because it feels like months since I posted a game here. It's a browser based simple Risk style strategy game. Here's some instructions from Phil's blog:-
The site does not explain the rules. The basic mechanics are obvious, but one thing I did not figure out at first were the rules for generating new armies/dice. You get one extra unit for each contiguous territory you control.
So the most important strategy is to unify your empire. Five separated territories will only add one unit to your forces, but three unified territories will add three units.
And, as in Risk, try to get yourself into a defendable corner.
Enjoy, and don't hate the messenger.

Damn you Gavin. What are you trying to do to our productivity? Risk is probably my favorite board game, but i've never enjoyed it on the web. I think the simplicity, or maybe just the dice sounds makes this version so addictive and fun.
Ha, just goes to show that no matter how many warnings you give, no-one will listen!
I know you're a different Phil, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a certain sense of closure from having wasted some of your time ;).
