Blackberry Game: Asteroid Jane

When is a launch not a launch?

Asteroid Jane, the new blackberry game Andrey Butov and I developed, just had an exclusive launch period on mobile games portal Clickgamer. It's now also available to buy directly from Antair.com:-

Asteroid Jane for Blackberry

The game sees Jane, an expert asteroid miner, on a quest to rescue her kidnapped pet, Fritter. You can see the game in action in this promotional video:-

We're proud of the game, it's fun to play and we've had some great feedback already. It's easy to pick up and play, and should appeal to casual gamers of all ages.

Clickgamer were a great help during the exclusive launch, adding all kinds of banners to their site, and promoting the video on their front page. They also designed and sent out a polished flashy newsletter to their customers. I would happily work with Clickgamer again in the future.

The development experience was also a very good one. Andrey and I found that we complement each others skill set very well. We're both excited about the other projects we have in the pipeline. If you can find another Micro ISVer who you get along with and trust, I totally recommend considering joint ventures.

If you have a Blackberry, give Asteroid Jane a try.

Love the promo -- it has *character* with the cool sound effect that mounts higher and higher like an old-style action movie intro. I like what you 2 are doing and it sounds like you know how to promote your stuff. If you continue to pull off a good collaboration, it is truly enviable. I don't think you ever commented on my free javascript game at xmljungle.com, but if you check it out and like the animation logic, let me know if you want me to contribute to any of your projects (not looking to be paid, just recognized).

Thanks Ben, I'm glad to hear you liked the video.

The collaboration is definitely working, both in terms of the quality & pace of the project, and in the intangibles like motivation and optimism.

I did take a look at the javascript game you did back when you posted it on BoS, it was quite fun. I don't know how it was coding the game in Javascript, but if you're interested in that kind of work you should definitely try Flash or maybe Silverlight (I haven't tried Silverlight myself yet, but I would like to). If you've never used Flash before, I think you'll be surprised how effective and productive it can be.
