Yesterday we launched another new BlackBerry game, Antair Video Slots. It has a modern multiple pay line 5 reel video slot game with an Asteroid Jane space theme, a more traditionally themed 3 reel one arm bandit style slot machine, and a pirate themed 3 reel slots game with hold reels and multiple paylines. We built the game around the same core as Antair Video Poker, which launched last week. With both games we tried to recreate the fun and accessibility of casino games, and capture the one-more-go impulse.
As Andrey noted in his blog post about the new game last night, we're switching over to a desktop PC/Mac game for our next product. We've been bouncing ideas back and forth and spurring each other on over the last 6 months or so of this game development venture, so by now we've built up a solid idea backlog. I've been building a lot of Flash prototypes and we've tested several game ideas with various game engines, IDEs, and frameworks, but the time came to pick one and get on with it. We're done with our technology evaluations, we have a solid preliminary design for the game, and we have an artist on board, so the next few months should be very exciting. Antair Video Poker for BlackBerry is now available to download and buy. Antair Video PokerThis is the second release from my game development venture with Andrey Butov, and it's another one I'm very happy with. It supports 6 different Video Poker games, visually it turned out great, and it has nice record keeping and high score tracking. I think it really captures the feeling of Video Poker, and it's a lot of fun to play. If you have a BlackBerry, I hope you'll give it a try, you can download the demo directly to your phone from the main game page. The joint venture with Andrey continues to be a very good thing. It's amazing how much our skills and interests complement each other. Whenever I find something I don't want to do, there's always a good chance Andrey will be looking forward to it, and vice-versa. It feels great to wake up in the morning and find that someone checked off all the tasks you were dreading, but left all the fun stuff. We already have another BlackBerry game in development, and our PC/Mac projects are coming along nicely, so stay tuned. Tags: blackberry games video poker
