V4 Solutions Web Helper
What is it and how do I use it?
Web Helper allows you to save interesting links, text, web pages, or fragments of web pages. Drag and drop whatever it is you want to save and it will be added to your Web Helper project. The data will be stored on your PC and can be viewed offline.
An Example
If you were going to use the web to look for a new printer, you would probably find a lot of products on a variety of sites, and it could be difficult to keep track of each product and compare prices and features at different sites.
Using Web Helper, you could save a lot of information relating to this new printer very easily, and because Web Helper stores your information in different project folders, you don't flood your favorites or bookmarks with links or data that you will never look at again.
To start a new project with Web Helper, click the New project button and enter the name, then make sure the new project is selected before you start saving your data.
Now, search the web for your printer as you normally would. When you find something interesting, select it and drag and drop it onto the Web Helper window. Alternatively, you can even close the Web Helper (it will remember what project you were working on) and use the right mouse button menu to add your selection to the project.
You can save whatever you want, be it the picture of the items, the description, prices or reviews. Web Helper will remember the links to all the pages you save, so you only need to save the minimum amount necessary.
When you're done looking, or want to check up on what you've found, you can either click on the individual entries in the Web Helper list, to view each item you saved on it's own, or you can click on one of the consolidates views, such as All Images or All Fragments, and view all of your content together on one page. All data is presented along with the time when you saved it to Web Helper, and the link back to the page where you found it.
Your fragments are saved and available offline whenever you need them (images are available as long as they remain in your temporary internet files or on the web server). You can even save a copy of an entire page for use offline, by using the right mouse button menu and selecting Save Page to Web Helper. Saved Pages are highlighted in the Web Helper list by a different icon.
You can customise the Web Helper view by choosing how your information is categorised. Web Helper can sort your data by Date, Name, Site or Type.
